Final Spring Training Game Notes

As sad at it is that today’s the last day of Spring Training, the fun is just beginning.  It is a time for optimism for all, even the Pirates.  But before we move on, let’s take a look at the final game of Spring Training:

  • The Yankees beat the Tigers 2-1.
  • Freddy Garcia hurled 4.2 innings while giving up one run on four hits, two walks, and three strikeouts.
  • Bartolo Colon and Mark Prior each threw a scoreless inning in relief.
  • The Yankees offense was an Alex Rodriguez RBI walk and an Austin Romine homer.
  • Brett Gardner led off today with Derek Jeter batting second and this will also happen on Thursday against the righty Justin Verlander.  This was part of the platoon that me and Rob talked about on the last podcast.

The Yanks will now head north to take on the Tigers again, this time in a three game set worth a little more.  Opening Day is now less than 48 hours away!!  Make sure you clear your schedule for Thursday afternoon.
