Luis Ayala Takes Final Spot

Luis Ayala Takes Final Spot

With Pedro Feliciano shut down for ten days and being placed on the disabled list, one spot in the Yankees bullpen opened up.  There was much speculation as to who would get it.  Most thought Steve Garrison would because he is a lefty.  However, Luis Ayala, the veteran righty who was a non-roster invite will round out the roster.

Ayala, 33, had a solid spring pitching to a 0.79 ERA, a 0.79 WHIP, while striking out nine and walking none in 11.1 innings pitched.  However, don’t expect to see him stay too long as once Feliciano gets back, he will be given the boot.
