Minor League Updates

As I mentioned in one of my posts from Thursday, the minor league seasons have started for Triple A Scranton, Double A Trenton, High-A Tampa, and Low-A Charleston.  Here’s an update on how they are doing (something I will do every Sunday):

Scranton: 0-2

Jesus Montero- .400/.400/.700, 1 HR, 1 RBI

Hector Noesi- 5.0 IP, 3.60 ERA, 2.20 WHIP (as Mike of RAB points out, a little too hittable with that high WHIP)

David Phelps- 4.1 IP, 10.38 ERA, 1.85 WHIP

Adam Warren will get the start today.

Here’s a clip of Jesus Montero’s home run (via SIH):

Trenton: 1-2

Melky Mesa- .231/.286/.308 (needs more discipline at the plate)

Austin Romine- .167/.286/.167

Steve Garrison- 4.0 IP, 0.00 ERA, 0.75 WHIP

Dellin Betances is starting today and Manny Banuelos will start tomorrow.

Tampa: 2-1

Abe Almonte- .357/.357/.714, 1 HR, 2 RBI

Zoilo Almonte- .154/.154/.231 (one scout I talked to expects a big year out of this guy)

Brett Marshall- 4.0 IP, 13.50 ERA, 1.75 WHIP

Mark Prior- One perfect inning

Jose Ramirez gets the start today.

Charleston: 1-1

Slade Heathcott- .429/.400/1.143, 2 HR, 6 RBI (former first round pick, every one expecting big things)

Gary Sanchez- .250/.308/.583, 1 HR, 2 RBI (the third big catcher)

JR Murphy- .231/.231/.692, 2 HR, 3 RBI (when he hits the ball, it goes far)

Shane Greene- 6.0 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 0.00 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, 1 W

Kramer Sneed gets the ball today.
