Hughes’ Throwing Program

So a few days ago, Phil Hughes was put on the 15-day disabled list with what the Yankees are calling a ‘dead arm.’  Actually, the Yanks were going to send him down to Triple A Scranton so he could pitch with less pressure and get back into the swing of things, but he didn’t think that would help.

Via RAB, he will starting a throwing program onSunday which will be supervised by Larry Rothschild.  He will be long tossing Sunday and Monday and will get Tuesday off.  If all goes well, he will be pitching off a mound on Wednesday, but I don’t expect this.  Let’s keep Phil in our thoughts and prayers because the Yankees are going to need him 100% if they hope  to go far this year.

By the way, I never got a game recap up for Thursday’s game because of a busy schedule, but I was going to include this graphic.  It shows Hughes velocity throughout his last start:

As you can see, Hughes was barely topping out at 91.
