Millwood Impressive In Triple A Start

I mentioned something about Kevin Millwood making a start for Triple A Scranton today on the podcast, but I figured it was worth its own post.  Today against Triple Syracuse (Washington Nationals affiliate) he threw seven innings giving up two runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out three and threw 95 pitches.  He was mostly around 85-87 with his fastball and occasionally touched 89.  He was in total control though and got a win.

The strikeout to walk ratio is definitely a lot better than it was in his first start with Double A Trenton.  He has been very good in both starts and it draws the question of when we will see him in the Bronx.  His opt-out clause if for May 1, so they will have to make a decision before then.  I figure he will get one more start and if he is impressive again the Yanks will probably make room for him.  If Ivan Nova isn’t that good in his next start, Millwood could replace him.  It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
