A Cervelli Update

Via Brian Costello of the NY Post, Francisco Cervelli continues to make strides toward getting back to the Bronx.  Costello says that the plan is for Cervelli to catch again today for the High-A Tampa and then tomorrow for Triple A Scranton.  After that, they will evaluate him and perhaps activate him.  At this point, Frankie is just trying to get his legs back into catcher’s shape.

It is clear that Cervelli is close because on Sunday, a day game after a night game, Russell Martin was not given a day off.  This shows that Joe Girardi can wait until the better Cervelli comes back to give Martin a breather.  Don’t expect the skipper to hide Frankie the was he has the inept Gustavo Molina.  Molina will likely be designated for assignment when Cervelli is activated.
