Hughes Suffers Setback

Via Mark Feinsand of the NY Daily News, Phil Hughes’ arm did not rebound the way they thought it would.  Larry Rothschild and Hughes both said they were surprised and that they had never seen such a long case of dead arm.  After 10-12 pitches in his throwing session yesterday, he cut it short because of some discomfort.

Hughes was supposed to make a start in minor league rehab assignment on Thursday, but that will be pushed back.  He is going for an MRI tomorrow, which to me is odd because it makes me wonder why they didn’t do this from the beginning.  Apparently he passed all of the strength tests with the doctor so that’s some good news.  We will see today what the deal is.
