A Luis Ayala UpdatePosted: May 2, 2011
Via RAB, Luis Ayala, who was put on the 15-day disabled list with a lat injury earlier in the season, is starting his first minor league rehab tonight. If I had to guess, I would say that he will be back in a about two weeks, maybe a little bit less. In this case, the Yanks would probably option Lance Pendleton or Buddy Carlyle back down to Triple A Scranton.
In the five innings he pitched before going on the DL, Ayala posted a 3.60 ERA, a 1.60 WHIP, and struck out the same amount of hitters that he walked. Those numbers aren’t too impressive, but as a veteran he should be back and will probably get mop-up work.
