Soriano And Hughes Injury UpdatesPosted: May 11, 2011
It was shocking to see Joe Girardi not go to his ‘eighth inning guy’ with a 3-1 lead in the eighth. Of course it all worked out as Joba Chamberlain filled in nicely, but that’s not the point. As it turns out, his shoulder has been feeling sore and tender for the last few days. He is going for a precautionary MRI, but says he feels fine. Still, with two surgeries on that elbow already in his career, it’s something to look out for.
A report on Phil Hughes was also available and it said that he feels a lot better after the cortisone shot and a lot of the inflammation in his shoulder had gone down. He is going to start throwing on Thursday which could lead back to the Bronx by June if all goes well. This means we’ll probably see him in July.
