Soriano Out At Least Six WeeksPosted: May 25, 2011
Via Conor Orr, Rafael Soriano is out six to eight weeks with an inflamed elbow ligament. He will have the next two weeks to rest the arm and then will start lightly throwing after that. Brian Cashman said that he should start facing hitters about four to six weeks after the rest. That puts it at about two months which is right around the trade deadline. Dr. James Andrews, the doctor who made the diagnosis, said the rest should take care of it.
This being said I would like the Yankees to bring up a short-relief guy who could help David Robertson and Joba Chamberlain not throw as many innings. Maybe a Kevin Whelan or Ryan Pope and then you can send Hector Noesi down to Scranton so he can start some games. That’s just me though.
