Yanks Get To Felix; Lose In TwelvePosted: May 29, 2011
My schedule is all thrown off by this west coast stuff so here’s the game recap in bullet point form:
- Ivan Nova was pretty bad. He couldn’t get out of the fourth innings, which was very disheartening since they were facing Felix Hernandez. The offense scored three runs for him and he gave them all back plus one. His line was 3.2 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 1 K.
- Hector Noesi then came on and pitched 2.1 innings of two-hit baseball to keep the Yanks in the game. David Robertson then went 1.1 innings and struck out three and Joba Chamberlain went 1.2 innings and struck out two. Boone Logan and Luis Ayala went the tenth and eleventh respectively. Mariano Rivera then came on and gave up the run to make it a 5-4 loss.
- Robinson Cano and Mark Teixeira got the Bombers on the board early off of King Felix with a solo homer and 2-run homer respectively. In the seventh, Curtis Granderson tripled in Derek Jeter to tie the game at 4.
- Of course the team went 1-for-9 with RISP. Derek Jeter and Robinson Cano had nice games combining for five hits.
So I’m gonna run now and try to shower these last two games off me. A win would be nice for today.
