Jeter To DL, Pena Up

Update (6:13pm): Jeter has finally been placed on the 15-day disabled list and is eligible to come off on June 29.

Update (4:25pm): As it turns out, the Yanks haven’t made a decision on Jeter going to the disabled list yet, and won’t until after he sees Dr. Ahmad tonight.  He will miss at least a week either way so I don’t see why they wouldn’t free up the extra roster spot.  Either way Pena has been called up to replace one of the thirteen pitchers the team was carrying.

Original (3:00pm): Via Sweeney Murti, the Yankees have placed Derek Jeter on the 15-day disabled list and brought up Eduardo Nunez.  This is definitely the right move because you’d rather be safe than sorry and also it frees up the extra roster spot.  Pena has been the everyday shortstop for Triple A Scranton to start the season and is already in the clubhouse.
