Bats Cool As Yanks Fall To Davis, CubsPosted: June 18, 2011
So I had a busy day and it’s pretty late for me so I’m gonna do this the short way. Here it is:
- Freddy Garcia was very good, throwing 100 pitches (62 strikes) in seven innings while giving up three runs on six hits, two walks, and three strikeouts. The early trouble he got into did him in as he gave up two first inning runs and the Yankee bats never woke up.
- Luis Ayala looked very sharp going in the eighth inning only needing nine pitches to get through it and struck out one.
- The Bombers offense sucked. Curtis Granderson and Alex Rodriguez combined to go 0-for-8 with four strikeouts and not one player had a multi-hit game. It should also be noted that the three pinch hitters that Joe Girardi sent up to the plate went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts including two of them in the ninth inning.
That’s it for this one. Tomorrow these same two teams will go at it at around four. Go get ’em.
