Yankees Farm Report: August 2, 2011Posted: August 3, 2011
- Brad Halsey was promoted from High-A Tampa to Double-A Trenton and Ryan Flannery went the other way.
Manny Banuelos made his Scranton debut and was very good. He allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out eight and walking three in five innings. He allowed one run on a homer to Dominic Brown, Phillies phenom, but got a lot of swing and misses and was sitting in the low 90’s. Very nice. Josh Schmidt tossed two perfect innings in relief, Buddy Carlyle threw a scoreless eighth, and Kevin Whelan nailed down the save. On offense, Jesus Montero went 3 for 4 with a homer, Brandon Laird went 2 for 4 with a homer and two runs scored, and Austin Krum went 1 for 2 with a double, a walk, and a stolen base. Mike Lamb also added a base hit and Kevin Russo drove in a run.
Dellin Betances gave up three runs on six hits and four walks while striking out five in four innings. He was throwing the ball very hard, but he just can’t bottle up his talent. Cory Arbiso followed with two scoreless innings before handing the ball to Pat Venditte for a perfect inning. Chase Whitley also struck out two in two scoreless innings. Austin Romine went 1 for 4 with a run driven in, Yadil Mojica went 2 for 4 with two runs scored, and Ray Kruml went 1 for 4 with a run driven in. Damon Sublett and Zoilo Almonte each added hits as well, Sublett also walked twice.
Kyle Roller went 2 for 4 with a run driven in, Abe Almonte went 1 for 3 with a walk, a stolen base, and a run scored, and Emerson Landoni went 1 for 3 and drove in a run. Dan Brewer, Luke Murton, Cody Johnson, and Hector Rabago each had hits as well. On the bump, Sean Black allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits while striking out two in five innings of work. Dan Burawa hurled two innings of three-run ball and Ryan Flannery threw a scoreless inning.
Gary Sanchez and Ramon Flores each went 1 for 3 with a homer and two ribbies, Kelvin DeLeon went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored, and Shane Brown walked and scored a run. Kevin Mahoney and Jose Mojica each notched hits as well. On the mound, Scottie Allen allowed nine runs on twelve hits and four homers while striking out two in four innings. Yobanny Reyes gave up a run in two innings of relief and Tommy Kahnle tossed two scoreless innings.
Mason Williams went 3 for 5 with a homer, three ribbies, two runs scored, and a stolen base, Cito Culver went 2 for 4 with a triple and two runs scored, Angelo Gumbs went 1 for 3 with a triple, two runs driven in, one scored, a walk, and two stolen bases, and Reymond Nunez went 2 for 4 with a double and a run driven in. Evan DeLuca walked five and struck out two in three innings while allowing three runs. Brett Gerritse gave up one unearned run in three innings, Fred Lewis tossed a perfect inning, and Phil Wetherell yielded three strikeouts in two innings.
Kanekoa Texeira continued his rehabbing with two innings pitched while allowed two unearned runs on two hits and striking out one. Reynaldo Polanco then came on and gave up one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six. Mariel Checo and Cory Cowsert each added a scoreless inning in relief as well. On offense, both Dante Bichette and Matt Duran went 0 for 4 along with Yeicok Calderon and Justin James. Isaias Tejada went 1 for 3, Jose Rosario went 1 for 4 with a run scored, and Ravel Santana went 2 for 2 with two ribbies.
